Sean Baker - Arthur Kipps
Sean’s extensive career includes roles in repertory the length and breadth of the British Isles, most memorably perhaps Leontes in Phyllida Lloyd’s The Winter’s Tale and Ball in Howard Barker’s Victory for the Wrestling School. Additionally he has appeared in productions in Paris, Berlin, New York and Tokyo. He was a member of the RSC from 1985 to 1990 where his roles included Cassio in Trevor Nunn’s production of Othello with Willard White and Sir Ian McKellen, Angelo in Nicholas Hytner’s Measure for Measure, Cassius in Julius Caesar directed by Terry Hands and Richard Nelson’s play Principia Scriptoriae with Anton Lesser.
His last appearance in London was at Hampstead Theatre in Tim Luscombe’s The Schumann Play in which he played six parts including Clement Attlee.
Other recent theatre appearances include Mowbray/Salisbury in Trevor Nunn’s production of Richard II starring Kevin Spacey at The Old Vic (2005); Caius Ligarius in Deborah Warner’s Barbican production of Julius Caesar; Foliot, Bishop of London in Becket at the Haymarket Theatre (John Caird); Candy in Of Mice and Men at The Old Vic, directed by Jonathan Church and Andrew Marvell in Oliver Ford-Davies new play King Cromwell at the Orange Tree.
Most recently seen on television as David Blunkett in Channel 4’s The Blunkett Tapes, he is shortly to be seen in Holby City. Other television includes Doctors, Midsomer Murders, Foyle’s War, Derailed, Christmas Truce (Days That Shook the World), Murder Prevention, the children’s series Powers and The Project as well as A Dance to the Music of Time (X Trapnel), Soldier, Soldier (CSM Henwood first series), Between the Lines, Lipstick on Your Collar, Berkely Square, The Bill, Casualty, Stonecold, and Lovejoy.
Sean is a frequent contributor to BBC Radio 4, having contributed to over one hundred radio plays and was most recently heard in Dr Zhivago and Horst Buchold and Other Stories. In June 2007 he narrated the BBC Book of the Week, Wildwood.
He has also narrated as audio books A Season for the Dead (David Hewson) and Savage Tide Glenn Chandler.
Film work includes appearances in An American Werewolf in London, Il mio West, Britannic, Jilting Joe, and Black Beauty.
